* Clean out all preserve first. Then blow with dry air to clean oil holes throughly. Make sure oil holes are flow free. * Inspect all journals to make sure the crank is free of nickes, scratches, and hairline cracks. Return to dealer if found any. * Micro and all journals to ensure proper size and tolerance are met crank shecification. * Place crank on lathe to verify the deflection on crank is not over 0.002" per feet length times overall length of crank. * CAT crank's counter weight is always heavier than throw, which make easier for dynamic balance. Obtain correct bob weight and install necessary components for external balanced crank. * If crank has a larger journal radius, make sure use "H" narrow bearings. * Spread plenty oil on journals before assembly. Make sure oil holes
on bearings are lined up with oil holes on journals. Check proper oil
clearance and make sure the direction of rod and bearing are corrected.
A 0.020-0.028" side clearance is required. * Torque main and rod bolts as manufacturer's specification. * Hand crank engine to ensure all counter weights and rod bolts are cleared from piston skirt, camshaft, and engine block. * Start engine at low speed to ensure no abnormal sound come from crank case. * Check oil temperature frequently during break in period.
