INSTALLATION OF SFI FLUID DAMPER & PULLEY KIT

* Make sure a SFI serial number and proof
of meet SFI 29.1 spec. are engraved on the outer ring. CAT
logo and part number are engraved also. Identify the part number is
right for your engine. *Make sure no sticky fluid, make sure it is not preserve, appeared on the surface. If possible place damper upside down overnight to ensure the silicone fluid is sealed. Return damper to dealer if leak detected. * Micro crank snout and damper hub to ensure the hub ID is 0.0002-0.001" smaller for press fit. Excessive tolerance amy crack the keyway. Make sure an OEM key is used. * Remove burrs, nicks, and sharp edge on snout. Don't ever hone the inner bore of hub. File with emery cloth if need. * Remove outer ring from hub for a external balanced crank. * Apply anti-seize compund on snout and hub. * Tighten hub with proper installation nut only. Never hammer the damper. It will void the Warranty. * While hub proper seated, proceed crank balancing operation. Don't ever balance crank with outer ring on. The movement of inside fluid will provide false reading. * Install outer ring on hub with 45 ft-lbs torque. * Install damper bolt and washer with torque as: GM SBC 70 ft-lbs. GM BBC 110 ft-lbs. FORD 200 ft-lbs. DODGE 200 ft-lbs. BUICK/PONTIAC/OLDSMOBILE 250 ft-lbs. * Install pulley on damper, if necessary drill new bolt pattern on pulley. Don't ever drill on damper, which may cause leaks and void the Warranty. * Line up belt system with generator and water pump. If necesary, add shims on pulley mount at generator and water pump for correct center line. * Deflect belt 0.5" on a non-auto tensioner system for proper belt tension. * Check the timing mark on damper is in correct position as OEM specification. * Hand crank engine to ensure no wobble on damper and pulley. Make
sure thre fan blade is clear from radiator and shroud.
