INSTALLATION OF DISTRIBUTOR DRIVE GEARS |
![]() |
C.A.T. B150 Aluminum Bronze distributor gears are specially designed for steel billet cam shafts only. It is not recommended for cast iron cam shaft. Consult your cam shaft manufacture if you are not sure if Aluminum bronze distributor gears are compatible with your cam shaft. 1. Take measurement of distributor shaft and compare with the distributor gear id. A 0.0005” to 0.002” clearance is recommended. Excessive or insufficient clearance may shorten the life of the gear.
3. Make sure cotter pin has been properly installed. 4. If a high volume oil pump or a magneto is installed on a Chevy engine,
we recommend cutting a 0.025”x 0.025” oil passage on the bottom
band above the gear. This will give the gear and cam extra oil to ensure
adequate lubrication. 5. Upon completion, hand crank engine to ensure proper working condition.
