* Make sure the surface of guide plate and block are clean.

* Make sure the width on guide plate slot is larger than push rod. CAT offers two sizes of guide plates for 5/16" and 3/8" push rods.

* Install guide plate with proper torque.

* Place push rod onto lifter and rocker. Make sure push rod is not rubbing on guide plate. Reposition guide plate if necessary.

* Upon completion, hand crank engine to ensure push rod move freely thru guide plate slot.
